Exalted 3rd pdf download
Details on the others exists in the book but they arent playable yet. Dragonblooded book is out. Lunar book is out. Rest still to come I have a question for anyone who has bought the physical edition of the core book. How is the book holding up? I love the game but I don't want to buy a book only to have it fall apart with in a week or two I Purchased the Premium Heavyweight version and quite like it. I typically keep good care of my books so they tend to stay is good shape. I've had the book for just over 9 months and haven't had any problems with it falling apart.
The Corners of the cover are curling in a bit from transit but nothing more than that. January 28, am UTC. My Premium Heavyweight came apart tonight, binding's coming completely off from the back cover side. I picked it up last May and it's been barely used - we only had it for 4 or 5 sessions when I first bought it, and then my group's been using it again over the last 3 Fridays.
Besides some light reading outside that, it's been sitting not standing on my bookshelf that whole time. I doubt I'll be replacing it, way too expensive for a book that size with standard binding imho. Have the same concerns about my M20 copy, but thankfully the group's had zero interest in playing that since I bought it :P. A friend of mine bought the basic hardcover and is having the same binding issues and he hardly abuses his books.
It's way too big a book for the binding. Should have split it into separate volumes or something. This product page sells a book to people who already know Exalted. But for someone who is new to the game their is nothing to learn here. I was curious to find out what exactly the game and its system are about but it basically only talks about how it's different from previous editions about which I also don't know anything. On this, I agree.
This was written to sell purchasers of old editions on the new one. For someone that knows nothing of exalted, what do you need to know? The setting is whatever the Storyteller needs it to be. It has a mixture of traditional western and eastern styles, but lends itself more heavily toward eastern. You have a heavy emphasis on Martial Arts in the setting, so if you dig Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee style movies this will be a plus for you.
Unlike other game systems, Exalted is essentially "Class-less". Your choice for Caste can affect XP costs for raising traits but there are essentially no penalties for buying skills out of your caste or profession. You can develop your character however you see fit. You get a small amount each game session and get to spend those points to upgrade and develop your character.
Exalted is a Story-driven system. It can be used for dungeon See more crawling if your storyteller likes that style of gaming, but at its core this system is very story heavy in its approach. One thing that this setting does is flesh out large locales such as cities.
Small towns, villages and the like are left for the Storyteller to create, they don't get any fleshing out on their own. So while the map in the book does show major settlements, you need to be ready to write your own settlements and drop them into a zoomed in version of that map. This does open the door for players to develop their own home villages and towns and to insert their own stories into the overall gameplay so if your into that kind of gameplay, Exalted might be for you.
Exalted is a versatile system, it lends itself well to many different play styles, but the setting isn't anything near as fleshed out or defined as Forgotten Realms. Storytellers and players have a lot of freedom to build on the setting, but it comes at the expense of having to do more preparation work.
Overall I love it. Despite the delays in the books getting out and my group staying in 2nd edition because of the delays, we all recommend giving it a chance. I recommend getting the pdf of it if your going to try it out, as the book is big price commitment. Fair warning to people looking at this game While it is excellent seriously, I gave it a five star review for a reason , having gotten it in hand Make room on your shelf, then go back and make more, because however big you're thinking, it's not big enough.
It is without contest physically the thickest RPG I own. Thicker than the Mage: the Awakening core rulebook. Thicker than the Pathfinder core book. Thicker than Vampire: the Masquerade 20th Anniversary Edition. It is somewhere between three and four inches thick, and at least a third of that is just the Charms chapter.
Consider yourselves warned. I doubt it is as thick as Ptolus. That being said how much fluff vs rules is there?
And you will find that a book that thick, with a glued spine, will see the spine fail very quickly. My two 2 mage POD failed just leafing through them. Looking at reference images of the Ptolus core, Ptolus looks perhaps a quarter of an inch thinner. It's a marginal thing. There's plenty of fluff some of which is new to this edition; a number of locations from previous editions are not discussed in the core book, in favor of filling in some of the empty space , but the Charms chapter alone tips the weight of the crunch heavily on the winning side.
Like I mentioned, the charm crunch takes a third of the book. Those of you who got print copies, how long did they take to show up? Mine was shipped on April 25 and I still haven't seen any sign of it, what's really weird is things that were shipped on April 26 showed up well over a week ago I'm getting worried it was lost in the mail, and it wasn't cheap. How long did all of your copies take to arrive? It's been 2 and a half weeks now.
Getting annoyed I am forced to assume it has become lost in the mail. A real shame, I guess I am going to have to file a claim. Wish me luck. I was told that it has to 30 days before they consider it lost, just FYI. So in my case I have to wait until May 27 before they will do anything. In your case it would be the 29th So now to start the process of a claim. I turned mine in too. They were very good about reordering it for me, now we'll see if it shows up this time.
May 05, am UTC. Anyone else have problems with pages coming unbound while reading? My page for my Premium copy came out soon as I turned the page as I skimmed through. Not sure yet what else may fall out. I had that problem with both the original and replacement of my Mage 20th POD. I got a refund after giving up. The pages are glued in and not sewn in.
This is the biggest problem I have seen with print on demand. Seems a bit pricy for the premium heavyweight, like twice as expensive as most are. The book is pages long, which, I believe, makes it about twice as big as most books.
Got my hardcover premium book three days ago and its a really BIG book. Art style in the book is stunning and i love it so far. Though i am little bit worried about the glued binding and for that high price and size of the book i hope it holds. April 26, pm UTC. Full size preview isn't working, so I can't really "see" what the book looks like. Plus, giving just the first 13 pages, nine of which are a story, is NOT helpful.
Also guys, having the preview be the first 13 pages, and those pages be all fiction and one page of the table of contents does nothing for me. This is really across the board for drivethru, not just related to this one book. For this size of book you want to show the full table of contents plus several pages of interior. It's been a while since I did one, but you certainly used to be able to create your own pdf and submit it, or to do the from-to auto-generate, so anything is possible.
A good point, one I have thought about but have not voiced until now. I know piracy is a worry but a dozen or so pages taken from the ToC or anywhere in the meat of a book this size should not really matter.
In this age of electronic options one thing we are denied is the chance to flip through a copy of a book. On that note for those who are gun shy the option to buy the PDF to review the book and the to buy the Hardcover only, if we like what we see would be nice. Agreed on so many levels, man. Heck, they could do what Monte Cook is doing, and offer free previews of this stuff as a separate download which contains a couple different pages from throughout the book to really convince us that this is a product worth the expense.
Kind of like what they did for their new Storyteller system but with a little more bulk. Daniel D. First, let me say that the Exalted setting is beautifully written.
The worldbuilding is novel, fascinating, and well thought out, with a wonderful amount of attention paid to the implications of even minor setting details.
The characterization is solid [ Jens T. Let me start by saying I love the Exalted setting, and the setting work done in this version is outstanding. However, after having played two campaigns as the storyteller I've finally given up on third edition. The system is overwhelming. Not only [ Ronald C. It pains me to give EX3E a low rating. I've been a Exalted fan since 1E, but as is fairly typical for White Wolf; great ideas, settings and themes, with poorly thought out mechanics that swiftly became excercises of abuse management or si [ Samuel S.
Disappointing--Needed an aggressive editor from Day 1. As a kickstarter backer, I was excited to get my hands on the manuscript. Exalted 2e was fun, but had some definite problems. However, as I read through the almost-finished product, my smil [ Noelle H. Welcome to Creation!
Everyone is a bad guy, no one's motives are pure, and readers want everything from a single book! Let me be clear--Exalted is a beast of a system. The book clocks in at just shy of pages, and after my third full read of [ See All Ratings and Reviews. Browse Categories. Wolfenoot Sale. Rule System. Apocalypse World Engine. BRP Basic Roleplaying.
